I installed the Lightscribe software about 2 weeks or so ago. I especially bought a new DVD/CD drive with Lightscribe capabilities because it sounded like a great thing. I've had nothing but problems, starting with the 4225 error. I was able to burn 1 simple label, with 3 words, after turning off the internet. I can't print out pictures, nor have I printed out any labels since. I don't want something that's going to be a problem all the time. Don't see why I have to turn off almost all my programs in order to get it to work. I'm not impressed!

People have reported problems with the way the drive is connected (External USB & Internal Master/Slave Position on the cable & Jumper Setting).

The other thing that has been reported is trying to use a Netbook (They are very under powered).

What is your system? &

How is the drive connected?

It is an internal drive with SATA connections. This is the first SATA drive I've had, I thought it would be better than the IDE, but not sure. Sony Optiarc

XP shouldn't be a contributing factor.

I assume from your description that the drive was installed rather than included initially.

SATA/IDE could be a factor.

You didn't say anything about its Cable Position or Master/Slave Setting.

This could prove to be the problem although SATA/IDE BIOS Setting may be the real source.

Yes, I bought it and installed it myself. The drive itself seems to be fine, it's the Lightscribe labeling that i'm having problems with.

Sorry, I didn't see all the msg before. I checked the back and only see the places to plug in the power and SATA. No place for jumper settings. I wondered about the SATA as I've never used it before. Probably should have gotten an IDE drive.

Is the drive on the 1st connector on the cable?
