Is there any way for the Template Labeler to recognize templates downloaded from other sites? I found a couple of really cool labels, but Template Labeler won't "find" them. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi marysnow !

The templates from the website are INSTALLED to one of two SPECIFIC FOLDERS:

Main LightScribe Templates:  C:\Users\Owner\Documents\LightScribe\Templates
Other LightScribe Templates: C:\Program Files (x86)\LightScribe Template Labeler\templatelabeler\content\templates

They used to be in a path with no space between "Template" and "Labeler" in the second one above.  The OLD Path needs to be merged into the NEW Path to put them back where the TL will see them.

I put My Custom Templates in the second place:
C:\Program Files (x86)\LightScribe Template Labeler\templatelabeler\content\templates

My Custom Templates require you browse to the folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\LightScribe Template Labeler\templatelabeler\content\templates) to extract them.

How I create Labels Containing a Track List

I've put together some stuff I use to create CD Labels.

  • I wrote up the procedure I use in a PDF File.
  • I make PDF Files of any Documentation I create.
  • I have V1.14.32.1 of the LSS & since Version 1.17.90.1 of both the LSS & the corresponding Diagnostic Utility.
  • I include an "Additional Stuff" Folder which contains anything I create while developing My Custom Templates.
  • I created ZIP Files for 6 Windows Vista "Right-Click" Directory Commands I developed to support making Track Lists & other procedures I use.
  • I "ripped off" the "Template Playlist Beta" (For which LS has NO documentation, NO source, & LAID OFF the Technician) "Full" & "Half" Disk Templates; fixed them; & then create a ZIP File of the two templates.
  • I am working to develop more Custom Templates.
  • I have a PDF that contains "Template vs Simple Labelers" - a comparison of what is the structure of each template.
  • I found 5 FREE Tools I use for development, & have more I am testing.
  • I have a PDF which contains a "Mini Resume" & a lot of "LightScribe Stuff" I've researched.
  • I continually develop PDFs on the Tools I use for development.
  • I developed 203 Custom Templates for the Template Labeler.
  • I developed 6 collections of Images.
  • I developed a New Custom Wedding Template for one Forum User & I did one for another Forum User.
  • I fixed one LSL File for another User by changing a White Outline of some Text to Black.
  • I created Previews of all my Custom Templates & Images & have Mini-Catalogues of both as PDF Files.
  • I created 174 ICONS & a PDF Preview.
  • I developed 4 Test "borders" for the Simple Labeler.
  • I tend to concentrate on Filling the entire disk surface especially with TEXT, Bold, Outline, White Text, & More Font Control.
  • I have just finished designing 4 Custom Templates which use Circular Text Items & Circular, Oval, & Diamond Shaped Images.
  • I published 3 Newsletters & a List of Newsletter Topics about what I've been doing & 2 other FREE Programs I've been researching.
  • I am studying the XML parts of the 2007 Versions of Microsoft Office Access, Excel, & Word.
  • I developed 6 User Defined Functions in VBA for Excel.
  • I have all this & more in My MS Windows Live Skydrive.
  • I am sharing my work with 143 Forum Users.

Send me a Private MESSAGE containing:

  • Your correct E-mail Address (REQUIRED BY SITE to send links & it's NOT  included automatically in a Private MESSAGE);
  • Your full name (For my records); &
  • A nickname you use (For my records).

I am retired on a disability, & I do this TOTALLY FREE.

I also try my best to keep E-mail Addresses confidential. I use "Blind Carbon Copies" when I send out anything.

I only occasionally send out Special Notifications, if I do something major.

The only "COST" is your E-mail Address which is REQUIRED by My Windows Live Skydrive to allow access to the stuff I've developed.

Thanks for the help. Do you happen to know if there is a way to change the way a file saves to a .lst instead of a .bmp or .jpeg? I think that may be my problem.

Thanks, I think I figured out how to open as a .jpeg using it's blank design, just wish I could move the text now, but I am still playing with it. Thanks again!

Hello again !

You can make small adjustments to the text by using SPACEs and CRs (Carriage Returns).

Also, if you use certain fonts and CRs, you can approximate Vertical Text.

The LS TL saves designs as LSL Files and Exports an Image of the design as a PNG File.

Except for Images which are stored in HEX, an LSL Files is the same as an LST File.  They are both XML Files.

I have used XML Notepad 2007 to compare the files for differences as a test and to learn more about XML.

I use Paint.NET to edit graphics and to convert files to different file types.
