I have a new LiteOn iHAS422. I was able to burn labels a few times, but now I can't anymore. I use Nero 6 Ultra and it is current on all updates. I get the following error:                                                           Nero - Lightscribe   Print process failed.  An internal error occoured. I have tried various media: Verbatim, TDK, HP

I have been in touch with Nero Support - no luck so far. I have been searching the web and haven't found anything yet. I checked for some possible conflicting applications running mentioned on the web... didn't find any. When I first got my LiteOn burner I think it was suppose to come with a software disc and I think I read on-line that I should try to uninstall Nero and use their registry removal tool> then install the LiteOn software> then reinstall Nero. Any ideas if this will work?  I also should mention I have a dual boot system with XP Pro Service Pack 3 on one hard drive and Vista Ultimate on another hard drive. I get the same error on both operating systems when trying to burn a label. I can burn DVD movies and music/data cd's with no problems.

I ran the Lightscribe Diagnostic Utility - No Lightscribe configuration problems found. Media scan also fine. However, when I looked at the Scan Event Log this is the error that it showed:   Win32 Error : Function: [HurricaneClientProxy: : DoNoDataCommand] DeviceIoControl Returned Win32 Error: 1117 Description: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

I am desperate for a solution and would appreciate any help!

Hi Toddgh !

I don't really think this will help, but it can't hurt.

Try rigorously cleaning the LABEL side of the disk BEFORE burning.

I use Memorex and found that this reduces the number of failures and errors.

Hope that's the problem!

Actually I did try using CD cleaner on the label side - did not help.

Besides I have tried several other disks with no luck... I doubt that they were all too dirty but thanks!

Hello again Toddgh !

Can you successfully burn DATA?

If that is also being affected you could have developed a problem in the drive.

I know you said it was new, but it does happen.

NERO especially V8 is noted for causing problems.

An "internal error" usually refers to a hardware problem.

Also, NERO is noted for bad support, even with that is is still just about the best on the market!

I had a problem which went away where NERO 8 refused to burn DATA on a BLANK disk.  I wound up using Windows Vista's built-in Burning feature for several disks that NERO 8 refused to burn DATA to.

I guess it all depends on what you mean by data? I can burn DVD movies, music & MP3's.

I tried uninstalling Nero 6... then I disabled my antivirus program... I ran the General-CleanTool_2_2_0_37 (for Nero 6)... restarted the PC... I then tried to reinstall the Nero 6 Ultra Edition and then received the following error:

Nero Web Engine. Error during installation of component "AudioPluginManagerLibrary"

I then ran the General Clean tool again... restarted the PC... installed the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0... then downloaded the Nero-9.2.6.0_trial.exe... then I ran the install... tried to burn a Lightscribe label I had saved previously - I got the same INTERNAL ERROR again!

So I created a new Lightscribe label from scratch and tried to burn again - internal error again.

I am at a loss of what to try next!

The only thing I haven't tried is to run the Nero 7 Essentials that is supposed to have came with my LiteOn burner... but I either misplaced it or it never came with my burner. I can try to contact LiteOn and see if I can get it from them or find a place to download it.

I do have an older PC with Xp on it I could try it in... I need to determine if it is a hardware or software issue.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Tonight I installed my old LiteOn SMH-165H6S and it burned Lightscribe labels without any problem using the Nero. (The only reason I purchased the new DVD burner is because the eject button is wearing out) In your opinion does that sound like a hardware issue to you since I can burn with my older burner?
