I have an HP notebook computer with Windows XP Pro.

I mistakenly installed LightScribe a couple of years ago, not knowing what it was, as the software came bundled with my computer. Turns out, I don't have a LS compatible drive.

Something went wrong with Uninstall, and it has remained on my list of installed programs, and in my registry. I pretty much ignored it until recently, when I tried to run some CD-labeling software, which keeps generating error messages owing to the LightScribe installation.

I'd like to get it completely off my system. I thought maybe if I tried reinstalling it, I might be more successful at uninstall (although I'm not sure what went wrong last time).

The version that came bundled with my computer (in the SWSetup folder) is:

                   LS_HSI.msi Version 1.4.67.1 Installer,MSI,Database

The version I currently have installed (via Add/Remove Programs) is:

                         LightScribe System Software 1.10.19.1

I don't recall when or where I got the upgrade.

In any case, when I try to uninstall it, I get a message,

"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable"

"Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'LS_HSI.msi" in the box below. "

When I browse to the folder containing the v.1.4 software, it fails, and says "Try to find the installation package 'LS_HSI.msi' in a folder from which you can install LightScribe System Software 1.10.19.1 "

Is there anywhere I can find Legacy versions of this software to try a fresh install, then uninstall; Or is there some other way I can scrub it from my system. .

Thanks very much.

From reading your post I would think your best path of action would be to try the freeware version of Revo Uninstaller. The CNET Download.com site is a good trusted source for the download. Just make sure you are not redirected to some bogus utility site.
