I purchased an HP dv7 4183 cl Entertainment Notebook this same time last year. It has a LightScribe Blu-ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD±R/RW Double Layer Support. I am considering getting some updated video editing software that has HD and Blu Ray editing capabilities. this includes Blu Ray Authoring. But, I don't want to get it if I can't burn Blu Rays with my laptop.
So- is my Blu Ray ROM also a Blu Ray burner...???

You would have to use Windows Device Manager to identify the drive in your unit and check the specs for your particular drive to be certain. The standard drive (without an option upgrade) your unit is built with does not burn BluRay discs. Generally speaking a BluRay ROM drive can read but is not able to burn bd-r discs.
