I have the latest version  of the template software 1.18.24.1 installed on my windows 7 Pro 64 bit desktop computer.  The software has worked just fine for over a year, but nowq it has stopped working.  I can open the software, open a template,  and at the Clink to add text there is no longer a rectangle outline around it, and the software freezes when I try to clin k on the clink to add Text.  AN ideas on what has gone wrong?

When you say"template software 1.18.24.1" do you mean the LightScribe System Software, the LightScribe Diagnostic Utility, & The LightScribe Template Labeler?

Because the 1st 2 are REQUIRED & are a MATCHED SET!

Also, the phrase "Click to add text" is very special; is recognized by the LS TL; & NOT PRINTED.

The FULL LABEL AREA is 1200x1200 Pixels, so you need to have a large high & good quality Image.

On another note:

How I create Labels Containing a Track List

I've put together some stuff I use to create CD Labels.
I wrote up the procedure I use in a PDF File.
I make PDF Files of any Documentation I create.
I have V1.14.32.1 of the LSS & since Version 1.17.90.1 of both the LSS & the corresponding Diagnostic Utility.
I include an "Additional Stuff" Folder which contains anything I create while developing My Custom Templates.
I created ZIP Files for 6 Windows Vista "Right-Click" Directory Commands I developed to support making Track Lists & other procedures I use.
I "ripped off" the "Template Playlist Beta" (For which LS has NO documentation, NO source, & LAID OFF the Technician) "Full" & "Half" Disk Templates; fixed them; & then create a ZIP File of the two templates.
I have a PDF that contains "Template vs Simple Labelers" - a comparison of what is the structure of each template.
I found 7 FREE Tools I use for development, & have more I am testing.
I have a PDF which contains a "Mini Resume" & a lot of "LightScribe Stuff" I've researched.
I continually develop PDFs on the Tools I use for development.
I've developed 417 Custom Templates (in 67 Collections + 8 Private Ones), 108 Images (in 12 Collections), 174 Icons, and 4 Test Background Images for the LS SL.
I developed 4 Test "borders" for the Simple Labeler.
I developed a New Custom Wedding Template for one Forum User.
I developed 11 Custom Templates for 5 other Forum User from Sample Images they provided or Detailed Descriptions.
I developed 4 Custom Templates which use Circular Text Items & Circular, Oval, & Diamond Shaped Images.
I developed 6 User Defined Functions in VBA for Excel for Transforms.
I developed 4 User Defined Functions in VBA for Excel for Circles & Ellipse.
I developed 11 User Defined Functions in VBA for Excel for Path Data.
I developed 27 User Defined Functions in VBA for Excel for various Shapes, Paths, & General Use.
I fixed one LSL File for another User by changing a White Outline of some Text to Black.
I created Previews of all my Custom Templates & Images & have Mini-Catalogues of both as PDF Files.
I created 174 ICONS & a PDF Preview.
I tend to concentrate on Filling the entire disk surface especially with TEXT, Bold, Outline, White Text, & More Font Control.
I published 20 Newsletters & a List of Newsletter Topics about what I've been doing & 2 other FREE Programs I've been researching.
I have studied the XML parts of the 2007 Versions of Microsoft Office Access, Excel, & Word.
I just developed 7 Template Making Tutorials
I have all this & more in My MS Windows Live Skydrive.
I am working to develop more Custom Templates.
I am sharing my work with 350 Forum Users.

I have installed all three of the software, and it said that the version I stated was the lastest version. When I open the template labeler, and can bring up any template I want, but the click to add text  areas no longer have a outline around them, and I cannot click on the text message to add text to the template, the software just stops working.

I have been using Lightscribe for about two years with no problems.  Today, I have had nothing but problems.  The program printed a couple of labels on cds and then quit.  I shut down and restarted, printed one more, then quit.  After several attempts, I uninstalled everything and reinstalled the LSS and Template software.  Still no joy.  Goes through the process, but will not print.  Provides a message for me to insert a disc.  Did that, but still no joy.  Not sure what else to try.  Any suggestions?  Do not understand why it has been working and now is not.  Hardware issue?

Ran the diagnostics, indicates no config issues.

After searching the forum site for more info, it seems that the problem is with the media.  Some cd/dvds are recognized while others are not.  I tried other another dvd from the stack and it worked.  Tried one of the ones that did not work before, made sure it was clean of smudges, etc, it still did not work.  Tried another from the stack and it worked.

Seems the optical system is very sensitive.  At least I can print data to the ones that will not take a label.  Bummer.

What brand of media are you using? BTW I saved a known good blank Lightscribe disc for use as a diagnostic tool in case I need to troubleshoot recognition problems. I have had the most consistant results using Verbatim discs.

Thanks for the response. I have been using the HP LightScribe discs. The first batch worked great. The second, lots of problems. On Friday I purchased more discs only this time I bought Memorex. Will give the Verbatim a try on the next round!

This morning I stuck a memorex disc in and it took off perfectly. None of the delays that I experienced with the HP discs. Will have a better feel for it after a few more runs.

I have been giving some consideration to purchasing an external drive that I could use on any of my computers. Do you have any thoughts on who makes a reliable drive utilizing the lightScribe technology?

Again, thanks for the response.

Pete

Just to let you know that I have not had one failure with the Memorex discs.  You were right on re:the media suggestion.

Thanks again.

I have both Simple Labeler and Template Labeler installed with latest version of System and program software.

Simple Labeler works fine as expected. Template Labeler has stopped working....does not burn anything on the disk.

I have Uninstalled all Lightscribe software and Reinstalled it after Restarting my computer....but still no labels from Template Labeler.

Any ideas?

I am getting really frustrated and pissed off. I know that photos in my library are jpeg but LS template labeler will not open any of these pics to the template!!!

Why am I having trouble now with something that I have done dozens of times before??

I select a a piece of album art, click 'open', and get the message "no items match your search".

It sounds to me that the default directory your "open" is pointed to does not contain any valid image files. Use the "open" at the top of the LTL header.
