Hello,

I have just bought an HP touchsmart 610 series which is supposed to have Lightscribe installed but there is no mention of it in the user guide. I have been unable to get in touch with anyone from HP so is anyone able to tell me if this has Lightscribe installed or how i can do a check  on the computer to find out i have looked but have come up short hope someone can help as this was one of the reasons i bought this computer.

Thanks

Does your drive tray bezel have the Lightscribe logo on it? You will have to contact HP to verify your particular case but some time ago I saw a white page notification indicating HP has ceased installing Lightscribe optical drives in desktop PCs around June 2011. The reason indicated was difficulty in maintaining Lightscribe function product quality control from drive suppliers.

Check the programs menu and see if you have "LightScribe Direct Disc Labeling" and open the "LightScribe Control Panel" this will show any LightScribe drives installed.

If you do not have that menu item, download the "LightScribe System Software" (LSS) from the downloads page, install it, and open the control panel and check for your drive.

If you have a drive you will need a labeler, I use the Template Labeler from the downloads page.

They are both free and easy to use.
