If I make a template for a label and save it, the picture in the template becomes corrupted when I open it the next time.
How can I avoid this?
TIA

What it should be: http://oldsmoboat.com/stuff/bg2.png

The image you supplied the url for is a png (pronounced "ping") file extension image with embedded tranparency. The jpg file format does not support transparency natively so it appears the conversion program you used did not properly convert the file from png to jpg. Also be aware that png files can embed copyright flags which makes conversions problematic. That said does the jpg image you have saved exhibit the same artifacts the template image shows? Keep in mind that since Lightscribe is a greyscale technology you can create a transparent (no print) area when using a single layer jpg image by simply inserting the color white (255,255,255) in the pixel or area you want to "print" as clear on the Lightscribe disc.

I agree with JimB.
I have done a lot of experimenting with the TK & Develop Custom Templates.
The TL will NOT accept GIF File Images.
I developed a template which allows 2 overlapping Image Items.
This template REQUIRES a PNG File as the "TOP" Image, but it MUST be re-inserted after a save to an LSL File otherwise the background of the 2nd Image goes BLACK!

The jpg I linked to is a screenshot that I saved in a jpg format.
I don't have the image I am using in a jpg though I can probably get it. What's the best size/resolution for lightscribe? I did edit the picture in Word 2007 (all I have other than Paint on this computer) to eliminate a background color in the original image.
Is jpg the best bet for images in lightscribe?

LS Template Labeler uses 1200x1200 pixel fomat &
LS Simple Labeler uses 2773x2773 pixel format for the ENTIRE Disk Image.
I use Paint.NET (FREE/Donation) & it allows changes from one graphic formar to any other.
How did you edit the Image in Word?

Yes if you are using the LightScribe Template Labeler JPG is the best format to use with it. And it's at 1200x1200pixels at 300dpi.
MS Word sucks. If your company will allow you to install the LightScribe software then they should in the same gesture allow you to install ALL the software needed to utilize the LightScribe functionality.
The image editor I recommend for you is IrfanView. It is a very small program that doesn't take much computer power.

Or you could just ask one of us on the Forum to convert it to JPG for you.
