Hello, I am having a real problem with the newest update for theLightScribe System Software (LSS) & the LightScribe Simple Labeler. The last version I had worked great without any issues. I had to recently reformat my hard drive and I tried everything without success. Both of the programs installs it just when I want to create a label it doesn't do right. I try to show you what is says in this example. Its reads in the preview "Enter you top text here" however in that same sentence there appears to be black blocks covering the middle of it. The same things happens with the bottom text as well. When you try to burn it after that it burns the label with those black boxes covering most of the words. I have noticed that if you don't have spaces in between the words that it reads and burns correctly. Meaning if I write the label like this "Enteryourtoptexthere" then it will burn the label correctly.
I like this software and I also like having spaces in between my label. Its seems like without any spaces it does fine but if you add spaces then it freak out the program and causes it to add boxes to the label which in turns covers most of my label. I think there is a real issue with the latest update and it need s to be fixed ASAP. Thanks, Brian

Hi Brian !
I've fooled around with Fonts and Symbols, and I've been able to put Symbols and other Special Characters into labels
In some of the Fonts, a space shows up as a "block" or "rectangle" or even a dot in the center of where the character is typed.
Either change the Font you're using or go into WordPad; select the same Font; try typing the same text string; and see if you get the same results.
The Template Labeler may not be using the Font you selected.

Thank you for the reply. I have tried all fonts in the Simple Labeler program and it still gives covers my label with boxes when I insert a space in between words. On the other hand without spaces it does fine. On a side note I have tried the Template Program and when I type in a label with spaces in that program it doesn't cover my label with boxes. The Simple Labeler Program is the one that has a glitch and well I don't know what else to do. Is there ant way of getting a earlier version of the Simple Labeler Program that works correctly? Brian

If you have Character Map, you can explore Arial or any other Font.
Does the space show up correctly in other programs?
If any character shows up incorrectly, you could have corrupted Fonts.
That's why I suggested using Notepad.
Make sure you're not pressing any other key when you type the space.
Your copy of the Simple Labeler could be corrupt.
I had a situation where a lowercase "a" was sometimes showing up as a black dot.

Thanks for the info however after doing more tests I have concluded that the Lightscribe Simple Labeler is the problem. I have downloaded the same file a couple of times and uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of tomes and I still have the same problems with the software. It only does this with the Simple Labeler program. I tried the notepad program and the same label is not covered on;y the label is covered with the Simple Labeler program. Like I said you need to find and fix the issue with the software because it acts like the software has a corrupt file in it somewhere due to the fact the Simple Labeler has the issue and the Template Labeler does not have the same issue. Like I said notepad worked fine with any font that I tried. Brian

Brian, it's been a year since your post but I'm having the same issue with the current download of the simple labeler also.
A black box appears right in the middle of what I've typed when I go to preview, and sure enough it actually rights the gunk on the disk as shown.
If they included the artsey borders of the simple labeler into the template download that'd be fine but...no such luck.
So...Lightscribe...still waiting for a fix.

cimofj2 on this forum might be more familiar with the possibility of using the template design you like in the Simpler Labeler as a background image in the Template Labeler. I've never used the Simple Labeler so I'm not sure if the backgound you like in Simple Labeler is a 1200 x 1200 jpg image. If it is you can easily use it as an image in Template Labeler. I also don't know if the design you are referring to is available as a Template Labeler template download. You can browse the Design Center area to see if you recognize the design. For example do any of these look familiar?

The Simple Labeler uses a 2773x2773 Pixel JPG File for the "background" Image.
You could include ALL text in an edited JPG & NO text in the 2 fields.
