I have even reloaded the software  after deleting the old ware..

Could not load file for printing(file  does not exist)

Hey Aardvark,

This problem occurs because an apostrophe has been used in the user's name. The Template Playlist application will eliminate this problem and allow you to dump filenames/tracks/playlists into the Template Labeler as well.   Ask for it in our contact Link below.

http://www.lightscribe.com/contactwm.aspx

Let me know if you found this useful

Best Regards,

Joshua Stevens (Lightscribe Technical Support)

In your reply below I did as you suggested I removed all Aspostrophes from my user name as well as from the computer name, restarted my computer and still same reply, the progress bar will go to about 75% before giving me the error message. The web site you suggested below is not available and when I searched the site for Template Playlist application all I got was 2 tricks and tip text files.

I am down to my last effort so any help will be appricated

Hi Tankerman !

The Template Playlist Beta is at:

http://www.lightscribe.com/downloadSection/pse/

However:

How I create Labels Containing a Track List

I've put together some stuff I use to create CD Labels.

  • I wrote up the procedure I use in a PDF File.
  • I make PDF Files of any Documentation I create.
  • I include an "Additional Stuff" Folder which contains anything I create while developing My Custom Templates.
  • I created ZIP Files for 6 Windows Vista "Right-Click" Commands I developed to support this and other procedures I use.
  • I "ripped off" the "Template Playlist Beta" "Full" and "Half" Disk Templates; fixed them and create a ZIP File of the two templates.
  • I have a PDF that contains "Template vs. Simple Labelers" - a comparison of what is the structure of each template.
  • I have found 5 FREE Tools I use for development, and have more I am testing.
  • I have a PDF which contains a "Mini Resume" and a lot of "LightScribe Stuff"
  • I've researched.
  • I continually develop PDFs on the Tools I use for development.
  • I have developed 110 Custom Templates for the Template Labeler.
  • I have developed 5 collections of Images.
  • I have developed a New Custom Wedding Template for one Forum User and I did one for another Forum User.
  • I fixed one LSL File for another User by changing a White Outline of some Text to Black.
  • I have created Previews of all my Custom Templates and Images and have Catalogues of both as PDF Files.
  • I have created 173 ICONS and a PDF Preview.
  • I have developed 4 Test "borders" for the Simple Labeler.
  • I tend to concentrate on Filling the entire disk surface especially with TEXT, Bold, Outline, White Text, and More Font Control.
  • I have all this and more in My MS Office Live Workspace and on My Windows Live Skydrive.
  • I have just finished writing a Newsletter about what I've been doing and 2 other FREE Programs I've been researching.
  • 105 Forum Users have taken my offer.

Send me a Private MESSAGE containing:

  • Your correct E-mail Address (Required to send links);
  • Your full name (For my records); and
  • A nickname you use (For my records).

I am retired on a disability, and I do this TOTALLY FREE.

I also try my best to keep E-mail Addresses confidential. I use "Blind Carbon Copies" when I send out anything.

I only occasionally send out Special Notifications, if I do something major.

The only "COST" is your E-mail Address which is REQUIRED both My MS Office Live Workspace and My Windows Live Skydrive to allow access to the stuff I've developed.

I just found out that:
If an Editor or Viewer forwards their E-mail "Invitation" to someone else, that person can use the link in the sharing "Invitation" to view a read-only version of my content.

Hi,

My name is Andrei, I'm tech support at SySTOR Systems Europe, and I'll be glad to help you, because many clients encountered this issue. Here it is :

1.First of all, before installing the LightScribe software, please make sure you log out of your user and login as Administrator, otherwise you will encounter issues with the LightScribe Host Drivers .

2.Insert the CD you received with the duplicator, in the optical drive of your computer, and run the setup file (for ours, is LightScribe Setup_ IDESelected_ v20.exe )

3.Check I Accept, click Next , enter your identification details and the product key (you find it printed on the disc) , click Next.

4.Next windows shows you two panels with drive models. On the left there are the supported drives, on the right panel you have the drives you selected (“your selected drives”). Remove everything from the right panel, excepting the DVD LightScribe burner model that your duplicator has ( for example, you will leave there only the LG GH22LP20.IDE 162 if that's the drive that equips your duplicator). If you are not sure that your drives are LG GH22NP20, you can ask your tech support. Then click Install.

5.While installing, other small programs will install too (the LightScribe host software, the actual LightScribe service that is needed in order to be able to burn LSI images.

When everything is installed, please restart your computer and run LightScribe Template Labeler .

6. In the first screen of LightScribe Template Labeler, select a template for your disc. When everything is done, click Next > . On the second screen, you can customize the template as you wish, add pictures , add text. When everything is done, click Preview and Print .

7.Another window will pop up , the LightScribe Print Options. Chose your contrast level and disk background, and then click Print. You will get a window called “LightScribe image (.lsi) file destination folder . Navigate to the location in your computer where you want to save your image file, type the name of the image file, and click Save.

8.For the next step, you will need to burn the image file you just created to a blank disc. Do that using any burning program, and burn the .lsi file as any other data .

9.Insert the disc you just created in your duplicator’s source drive (usually the first drive, counting up to down) , then make sure that drive is selected as Source drive ( navigate through your duplicator’s menu to the Select Source option , and chose Channel 00 ) .

10.Navigate to second option ( Print ) , press ENT, then the name of the lsi file will be shown on the duplicator’s display. Confirm the selection by pressing ENT , and then you’ll get the “Waiting for blanks” message . Insert ONLY LightScribe discs, with the label side facing down (so the data side facing up, backward as you usually insert a disc into a drive)  , and again confirm with ENT.

11.The printing process will start.

I hope this will help most of the people who encountered problems with the LightScribe technology drivers over Windows XP.

Do you have a LightScribe Drive?

Is it recognized?

Can you provide more info?

System?

Model of Drive?

Connection method?

Hello again todd.001 !

The only other thing to ask about are:

  1. .NET V2.0 or newer (I think it's at V3.5+)?
  2. Latest version of the C++ Runtime Library?

Both can be downloaded from Microsoft website.

I use McAfee Security Software as well.

I have never had a download problem.

If you think it may be interfering,

  1. Turn Security off;
  2. Restart;
  3. Download;
  4. Disconnect from network;
  5. Try the Install;
  6. Try to label;
  7. Restart;
  8. Turn Security on;
  9. Restart;
  10. Try to label again, if the program installed;
  11. Reconnect the network
  12. Try to label again.

This can help identify if it is the Security or the Network.

i tried turning off spyware detector and re- downloading....didn't help...what downloads is a shell containing an overview of lightscribe. not the controller package. when i go back to lightscribe site, i download a labeler package...this downloads and resides inside the shell insead of alongside it..( no seperate icon for starting program.) when i access the shell label program it opens showing the lable program that i have chosen . it will let me pick a design, add text w/ any font available, etc but when i push next ( preview and burn ) nothing happens, no acess to any function.....i don't think it's loading the entire package of software... i have downloaded other programs within the last 24 hours and all worked exactly as they should..downloaded, opened and ran just fine...it just seems to be the site provided by lightscribe....i have looked to see if these software programs are available on disc so that i could purchase and load them, but no luck yet...

again , i appreciate your help, and apologize for talking your ear off

The first thing to download and run is the LightScribe System Software (No Icon - Runs as a system service.

This doesn't require a restart unless the Diagnostic says there is a problem.

Second, the Diagnostic Utility (Should be the same version as the LSS - a matched set)

Run the DU to make sure install goes correctly and should find your drive(s) and any mounted media (this has a Desktop icon).

Next, install the LS Template Labeler or Simple Labeler (these have icons too).

have done as you instructed. results:  the overview is a stand alone icon, opens with a click. the overview information that was inside when opened has been replaced with labeler....same problem.

labeler does not have a stand alone icon

diaganostic does not have a stand alone icon.

the first time i downloaded items i used run...diagnostics and labeler were nowhere to be found. only the overview shell and icon, and when opened it revealed the labeler. no sign of diagnostics.

the second time i downloaded these items i used save/ run. the diagnostics and labeler were placed in "my documents"  when transferred to my desktop but they were not stand alone icons. when opened all that appeared was "run" which reloaded them...same thing ...no luck....

i have also lowered internet security a bit thinking that this was interfering with downloads....didn't seem to help....

i appreciate greatly the time that you have spent investigating my little problem..i would like to say that if could return the favor, i would....but being dain brameged, i do not suspect that my help would be needed...again thank you very much...

I'm sorry, I didn't really explain what I posted very well!

It is a list of the Folders generated by a LightScribe install.

If you examine your hard drive (C, you should wind-up with these Folders.

In them are all the Executable Files, like the Diagnostic Utility and the Template Labeler as well as all the LS Templates (the last few Folders) "templates", "backgrounds", and "thumbnails" from the LS Website.

You can "Right-Click" on any .EXE File (Executable) and do a "SendTo" "Desktop (create shortcut)" and put a shortcut to the Executable on your system's Desktop.

This might be needed, if the install failed to do it.

As I said before, the LSS is a service and as such it is NOT an Executable File and doesn't have a shortcut (it starts when the system starts or if you or  a new install does so).

I have your E-mail Address, so I'll send you an "Invitation" to My Skydrive.

Under Public -> 01-Downloads, you'll find all the OLD LS Software I've saved since V1.14.32.1.

You can then download and try any version you want.

It has run on my Vista system without trouble, so it should be OK.

If any of it does the same thing, something may be wrong with your system even if only slight.

You may have to take it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy and have it checked.

I let them do my system back in 04/2008 and it hasn't given any serious problems.

thank you,

have just upgraded windows installer package for xp3  thinking that this might be the problem...downloaded lightscribe system software, diagnostics, etc for the 15th time....(at least)....still the same problems.....it would sure be nice if lightscribe was sold on cds...just load and use....i've read a lot of posts of people with problems and downloading lightscribe apps....this cd idea would help a great number of people , any idea why they don't offer this as an option ?.......

anyway....thanks again for bailing me out......never been so frustrated with a product in my life.....

countless hours , not to mention the time you have invested....why do you do this so graciously ???  i for one am glad that you do,

your friend,

Let me know if you still have a problem, I could burn a DVD of My Distribution Disk and mail it to your snail-mail address.  If you can't use a DVD, I could make it 2 CDs.
